An event system that held brand coherence across 400+ sessions, 200+ speakers, and three stages.
Google Cloud Next is the company's flagship developer event — 30,000+ attendees, hundreds of sessions, dozens of partner booths, and a keynote watched live by a million-plus streamers. I led the event design system: every slide, banner, workbook, and digital asset built from a shared kit of parts.
Every year, Google Cloud Next is designed by a rotating cast of creative teams across three agencies and four internal product groups. The result, historically, has been variety at the cost of coherence — stages that looked like different events stitched together.
The 2026 brief was to industrialize the design system without killing the craft. Every team had to be able to produce their own assets and still look like one conference.
Approach
Modular brand kitDesigned an event identity with modular primitives — typography, color palette, grid, motion, illustration language — that any contributor could assemble without design review.
Slide system firstSlides are the atomic unit of a conference. Built a 60-layout master deck with auto-layout, motion-ready transitions, and a code-block system for live demos.
Booth and signage kitFull signage language — wayfinding, booth facades, workshop walls — built to fit the physical venue and the visual kit simultaneously.
Attendee workbookA printable and digital workbook with session notes, speaker bios, and a three-day agenda. Attendees actually used it; it wasn't just swag.
Partner marketplaceDesigned a modular partner-showcase layout used by 80+ partners, each with their own content but a shared frame.
